There are only 4-6 MAKERS of laptops and HP and the rest of the USA companies DONT make them. HP is TOUGH ACER is cool Toshiba if you can afford it, and choose the RIGHT ONE. Your MAIN concern is the PORTS on the machine and what you need to ADD, AFTER SALE. A TV(or SVIDEO) output is GREAT, but I can settle for a Computer monitor(LCD TV's have these MOST times) output. It gives you a chance to watch those internet movies and shows on a TV or DECENT sized monitor. Another feature is HOW MANY USB ports...2-4-6..2 is fine, but you MIGHT get a USB HUB, so that you can walk in and PLUG 1 HUB and connect all devices, printer, scanner, MIC, CAMERA... A FEATURE that SUCKS, is SHARED Video. which means that the RAM on the machine, is SHARED with VIDEO.. A 64meg video card on a 512meg ram is 512-64 megs.. IT SUCKS. Look at how much RAM and VIDEO ram, get at LEAST 128meg video. I dont know how much you know about computers..but IF' you can open a DOS WINDOW(command) then run DXDIAG(directX diagnostics) it will tell you allot about the machine.. FIRST thing you do, is go home and REMOVE all the EXTRA CRAP, TRIAL WARE, FREEWARE, and ALL the rest, and GET YOUR OWN.. Good luck.

There are a few thoughts.. I think you might check the MONITOR control key. Think its FUNCTION KEY + 5. It swaps the video from the LAPTOP to the SECOND device on the back of the laptop. Its DARK BLUE and looks like 2 caption bubbles [ ][ ] on the key. You can TRY to plug another monitor or TV into the plug also to see what pops up. IF the LCD is BAD, the other connection will SHOW a picture most times.

I'm so glad its not just been taken in by them. Like on many other forums there are people defending them - People from the company itself by any chance? that is often the concensus on other forums pointing out the illegal activities of the JT Consultancy ( skillstrain, T4TS, T4GS, Sheidegger etc etc.) As soon as sombody touches a nerve the comments suddenly get deleted or the thread is closed rather suspect me thinks! Just waiting to hear from them again after speaking to consumer direct and CAB and seeing what excuses they will reply with.
